The Parkland has many unique destinations for you to discover, from cozy tea rooms to beautiful gift shop full of locally-made crafts and knick-knacks. You never know what treasures you might unearth during your trip through the Parkland.
Brambles Nubian Goat Farm (San Clara)
Stay in a traditional Gypsy caravan decorated in authentic design or stop by for a day trek with pack goats. Go birdwatching, find oyster shells, crabs and crayfish, see Geurnsey dairy cows, Red Angus cattle, Buff Orpington chickens, and Nubian goats. Goat milk soap, herbal skin care products, engraved glass and unique Shell River jewellery are made on site.
Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival Boutique (Dauphin)
Art, clothing and decor produced both by local artisans and some from Ukraine.
Creative Spirit (Barrows)
Creative Spirit. A unique gift store with wild herbal teas (Labrador, mint, hyssop), salves, balms, twig wreaths, birch bark bitings and other wild crafts by local Aboriginal artisans. Stay in year-round guest houses or an authentic Aboriginal teepee. Enjoy workshops for making wreaths, tapping birch, gathering fiddle heads, harvesting teas and more. DVDs available.
Early Canadian Crafts (Boggy Creek)
Early Canadian Crafts. Native crafts artist, Yvette Bouvier, works and displays from her home. For more than 35 years, she has been making jewellery from moose and deer antlers; framed shadow-box pictures from tufted and sculpted caribou hide; light catchers, note paper, candle holders and art for framing from birchbark bitings; and at times, bags, moccasins and other items featuring quillwork.
Elkhorn Riding Adventures (Onanole)
Elkhorn Riding Adventures provides trail rides, buggy rides and hayrides. An arena, 85ft x 200ft, with a fabric-covered roof to allow natural light to filter into the riding space is a unique new feature. This is a state-of-the-art eqine facility located on the Elkhorn Resort grouds near Clear Lake, Manitoba.
Gone Scrappin' In Bloom (Rossburn)
Enjoy the ambience of an original 1940s brick store with all wood interior. Sip a cup of espresso, discover a selection of unique products, fresh flowers, plants, scrapbooking supplies, gifts, Manitoba chocolates, art and more. Visit the café portion for specialty coffees and teas, soup, desserts and ice cream. Open year-round.
Holmstead Emporium (Minitonas)
This rustic general store features candles, glassware, pewter frames and jewellery, and antique furniture. Throughout the summer the store also offers Breyers hand-dipped ice cream.
Manitoba & Northwestern Model Railroad (Sandy Lake)
This model railroad is a 28-foot by 38-foot layout with 770 m (2,500 feet) of HO gauge track, several hundred freight and passenger cars, and 200 steam and diesel engines. Three control boards handle as many as 12 trains operating at once. The entire layout is landscaped. Expect to spend an hour visiting the various scenes. Tours welcome.
Poor Michael's Book Shop (Onanole)
Poor Michael's Book Shop is no ordinary bookstore. In addition to first editions, rare books, vintage magazines and books on Canadiana, local histories, art and literature, the bookshop features works of regional and international artists including jewellery, pottery, handwoven rugs, scarves, organic coffee beans, tea and honey.
Solstice Spa (Onanole)
Solstice Spa is "where time stands still." The Elkhorn Resort's full-service spa offers a mineral pool, physiotherapy treatments, massage and aromatherapy, wellness soaks, face regeneration, hand and foot care, body scrubs or mud wraps with vichy shower, Reiki and raindrop therapies and guided energy sessions. Enjoy a healthy and refreshing spa lunch.
The Shops of Wasagaming (Wasagaming)
Plan to spend at least a full day touring the various shops and cafés located in Wasagaming, at picturesque Clear Lake, all in a Victorian resort setting. The Station Café (Roblin)
Roblin's 1906 CNR station closed in 1978, and is currently operating as a restaurant specializing in Austrian cuisine. The layout of the station remains the same as when it was built and original memorabilia is on display.
Valerie's Emporium (Onanole)
A unique giftstore with men’s and women’s clothing, candles, toys, costume jewellery, giftware, handmade gold and silver jewellery. Watch goldsmith and artist Valerie McMunn at work on-site, creating intuitive designs with gold and silver.
